Thank you for supporting the Archdiocese of Los Angeles!

When you make a gift to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, you have tremendous flexibility in determining how the funds will be used, as well as many options for making your gift.

Unrestricted gifts to the Archbishop’s Fund are among the most valuable to the Archdiocese, because they allow Archbishop Jose Gomez to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest.

Directed gifts allow you to designate your gift to a program such as Together in Mission, Catholic Education Foundation, or the Priest Retirement Fund to name a few. When you make a directed gift to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, you enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting a program that is personally meaningful to you.

You also have the option of designating your gift for current use or for endowment. Current-use gifts provide funds and flexibility over the short term, whereas endowment gifts provide security over the long term by expanding the Archdiocese’s financial base and creating a predictable source of future income for such things as tuition assistance and priest retirement.

Year-End Giving
In order for your gift to be eligible for a tax deduction for 2018, please be sure that it is postmarked by December 31, 2018 when mailing it to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  Credit card donations, stock transfers and gifts of securities must be received by the Archdiocese by 11:59pm PST on December 31, 2018 in order for them to be eligible for a tax deduction in 2018.  Please see below for specific instructions on how to support the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Cash gifts — the simplest and easiest gifts you can make — can be made through credit/debit card transactions, outright cash, or personal checks, cashier’s checks, or money orders made payable to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles. Click here to make a gift online.  Donations sent via mail should be addressed as follows. Please make the check payable to The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles and indicate your gift designation (i.e. Priest Retirement Fund) in the memo line.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles also has a wire account; please contact Doreen Rodriguez at 213-637-7267 or DRodriguez@la-archdiocese.org for instructions.

Gifts of appreciated securities, stocks, and bonds also provide considerable tax advantages when transferred before they are sold. If you have held your securities for more than one year, you may find that your gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale.  If you wish to transfer stocks from a broker’s account, please click here. Please complete the form and send it to the contact person(s) listed on the form as well as your broker to initiate the transfer.

If you wish to make a gift of physical securities on hand: Physical stock certificates may be sent by certified mail or overnight express, with endorsement on the back of the certificate(s) exactly as stated on the face of the certificate(s). Do not fill in any other blanks. No stock power is necessary as long as you do not fill in the correct name on the back:  The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles. Please mail to:

You also may make a gift of mutual funds, non-marketable stock, or closely held stock. Contact Doreen Rodriguez at 213-637-7267 or DRodriguez@la-archdiocese.org for information about giving these types of securities.

Planned Gifts
To learn about deferred or planned gifts, including bequests, life-income plans, and other options for your estate — and for information about increasing your income, earning valuable income-tax deductions, and reducing your estate taxes — please contact Kimberly Jetton, Director of Planned Giving, at 213-637-7512 or KJetton@la-archdiocese.org for more information.

Gifts of Real Estate — including personal residences, second homes, income property, and vacant land — offer a wide variety of tax and other benefits. Whereas most people give their entire interest away, it is also possible to give only a portion of the property (an undivided percentage interest) while retaining the rest for other purposes. Please contact Michael T. Davitt, Director of Real Estate, at 213-637-7273 or MTDavitt@la-archdiocese.org for more information.

If you need assistance making your gift, please contact Advancement Services at 213-637-7341 or Advancementservices@la-archdiocese.org. Thank you for your support of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles!
