The Catholic Church has an incredible story to tell, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has embarked as the first of its kind in the world to reach souls where they are and establish best practices to share with the Global Church. The Webmaster represents supports the management and maintenance of the various responsive sites and platforms connected to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The Webmaster will also be responsible for providing design recommendations for websites and other digital assets, and will be supporting Senior Web Strategist in implementing an enterprise web strategy.

The Webmaster will report directly to the Senior Web Strategist, will work across the Archdiocese in support of the multiple different Archdiocesan departments, parishes and schools, including but not limited to: Advancement/Development, Life, Justice and Peace, Vocations, Office for Women Religious, Catholic Cemeteries, Catholic Schools, and Parishes.

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

● Generate and revise web pages.
● Regulate and manage access rights of different users on website.
● Create and modify appearance and setting of site.
● Lay out content on web pages.
● Test websites to see if there are any parts that are difficult to use.
● Fix links that don't work and pictures that aren't appearing properly.
● Decide how site's content will be delivered to the Internet.
● Keep files small so sites load faster.
● Test different browsers and ensure people with different computers can access a website.
● Maintains site appearance by developing and enforcing content and display standards; editing submissions.
● Image re-sizing, re-touching and compression
● Performs a variety of task, works under pressure and general supervision.

● At least 2 years experience in web/mobile site development
● At least 2 years experience in marketing or creative production related field
● Experience with design software – Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator
● Extensive knowledge of design principles/typography and the ability to utilize the latest technology and emerging trends
● Understanding and demonstration of UI best practices, mobile and mobile responsiveness.
● Strong creative and graphics skills, including sense of layout, color and use of space.
● Intermediate knowledge of programming languages and web development standards - HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, MySQL, JQuery
● Strong understanding of maintenance and updating of Wordpress CMS
● Understanding of Github, Bootstrap
● Extensive knowledge of the wide spectrum of CMS options, their attributes and limitations
● Extensive knowledge and an intuitive understanding of UX design principles
• Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
• Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
• Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
