Bishop Amat Memorial High School is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Principal, Faculty Development.  As a member of the school’s administrative team, the Assistant Principal, Faculty Development will partner with the Principal to support and maintain effective instructional practice among the more than eighty educators who comprise the school’s faculty. 

Primary responsibilities of the position include the observation and evaluation of learning environments created by teachers across subject areas, the coordination of professional development programs and educational opportunities for all faculty members, and the organization of professional learning communities to foster productive collaboration in the areas of curriculum development, assessment, and instructional practice in order to maximize student success.  Additionally, the educational leader will teach one class in his/her subject field.

Bishop Amat Memorial High School is a Catholic, coeducational, comprehensive high school located in La Puente which serves approximately 1,400 students from the greater San Gabriel Valley.  The mission of the school is to form a faith-filled community and to provide a quality education that addresses the needs of a culturally and academically diverse student body. The comprehensive instructional program empowers students to recognize their potential and to meet educational and life challenges in the future. The school partners with parents to promote education in Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge by preparing students to embrace Gospel values, to respect themselves and others, and to contribute positively to the community.

 

 

Requirements:

The exemplary candidate is a practicing Catholic who abides by the faith tradition inherent to the Church, to Catholic education, and to the mission and philosophy of Bishop Amat High School.  Professional qualifications include a master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership/Administration in addition to a California single subject teaching credential and/or master’s degree in his/her subject area. A minimum of three years administrative experience within a Catholic school environment, with an emphasis in classroom observation, teacher evaluation and mentoring is strongly preferred.  Finally, the candidate must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, the willingness to work as part of a collaborative administrative team, and the ability to motivate fellow educators to seek and apply instructional best practices (including the utilization of instructional technology) in their classrooms.

Compensation is commensurate with education/experience in accordance with the Archdiocesan salary scale.
