Requires a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED). Must have a current Food Safety Certificate, prior food service experience, and strong interpersonal skills. Preferably, has received some formal supervisory training and must be bilingual.
Perform a variety of assigned duties to measure out and prepare foods and a variety of recipes. Serve and clean up work and dining areas. Prepare and serve food as needed for school cafeteria, breakfast and lunch and some catered school events. Hours may vary due to calendared school events.
Follows standards of safety in preparing, storing, and serving food; practices procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and personal habits to assure that sanitation standards are met. Work with such equipment as ovens, can opener, knives, spoons, ladles, etc., fryer and grills.
Cook various meats; mix ingredients, wash and peel fruit, vegetables, open cans, make desserts, salads, and/or sandwiches. Serve breakfast and lunches to faculty on occasions and students on a daily basis, serving portions as instructed by kitchen.
Manager. Scrape pans, wash pots and pans; sweep floors, cleaning dining tables, set up tables with napkins, straws, etc. Carry food to or from coolers or refrigerators, put excess foods away, clean all kitchen equipment, and Salad Bar equipment.
