Science Teacher

Full time (part-time 5th-8th grade science teacher/part-time WASC coordinator assistant, lunch and detention supervisor)




Teachers will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:

· Preparing/implementing lesson plans that lead to student mastery of science curriculum content

· Developing/implementing integrated curriculum units, differentiating instruction and scaffolding as needed

· Regularly assessing student progress to refine instruction and meet student needs

· Participating regularly in professional development opportunities and collaborative meetings

· Communicating frequently with students, students’ families, colleagues and other stakeholders

· Working closely with children and their families to promote personal growth and success

· Maintaining regular, punctual attendance

· Supervising students during break and lunch recesses, including after school duty as well

· Collaborating and assisting WASC coordinator as needed

· Responsible for school Science Fair, and other activities and demands in relation to it




Applicants who possess the following skills will make the strongest candidates:

· B.A in science or related field

· Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom instructional strategies

· Passion for working with children and their families

· Passion for helping kids learn through creative and innovative teaching methods

· Helping students see the value and importance of science, and more importantly, helping them apply what they have learned to authentic, "real-world" scenarios

· Operate with a growth mindset and willing to refine your craft

· Work well with other people and believe in the power of collaboration

· Comfortable receiving direct, candid feedback about your performance and operate with a high level of professionalism.

· Have acquaintance and/or willingness to use and implement technology for science. Lesson plans and experiments should be incorporated into interactive Smart Board.


Teachers should demonstrate a commitment to learning for all students by:

·      maintaining organized, student-centered classrooms

·      presenting content-rich and standards-based lessons and activities

·      meeting individual needs through the use of assessments and data

·      using a variety of instructional strategies that are reflective of current best practices and research




The classroom teacher will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by California Educational standards.


Teacher shall meet the following employment criteria:

· the minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

· professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience

· evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education

· regular and predictable attendance

· requires proof of Permanent Work Authorization for the United States​
