​POSITION SUMMARY:

The Catholic Church has an incredible story to tell, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is paving the way for digital marketing for the Church. Our specialties include video production, photography, design & branding, website development, social media, analytics, paid media, and search marketing. We’re looking for a Content Strategist to guide the content marketing strategy for the Archdiocese and our ministries, events, schools and parishes we serve.

As a Content Strategist, you will lead and support our team in content planning, content development, platform management, advertising operations, data analysis, and partner communication. The ideal candidate has a marketing background focused on digital content, in either a strategy or creative role. You’re passionate about your faith and intrigued by the chance to serve God through your career.

The Content Strategist pursues creative solutions to marketing challenges based on data-driven audience insights. Your work will cover a diverse set of projects, clients, and subjects. You pay close attention to detail, take initiative to complete assigned tasks, and aim to exceed expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

The Content Strategist’s responsibilities are:

 

Content Planning

  • Assist team in planning content calendars for social, editorial, website, audio, visual, and video content
  • Support planning for strategic marketing campaigns across digital and print mediums


Content Development

  • Research trending topics based on client goals to inform content strategy and content calendars
  • Attend events and on-site location shoots to contribute to live social media coverage and capture footage
  • Create social media copy and design simple templates for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Review content created by freelancers for alignment with client needs, project objectives, and quality standards 

 

Platform Management

  • Schedule content for distribution across social media channels using third-party tools and native platforms
  • Update, manage, and test website content using internal and third-party content management systems  

 

Advertising Operations

  • Assist team in creating ads and monitoring ad performance for campaigns through third-party and native advertising platforms

 

Data Analysis

  • Develop weekly reporting based on third-party and native analytics platforms for internal analysis and client review
  • Identify trends in content results to optimize content strategy and provide strategic recommendations to clients 



Partner Communication

  • Assist team in communicating with freelance designers, copywriters, videographers, and photographers including project assignments and deadlines
  • Conduct parish outreach as needed for event promotion and content development



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

 

Faith Formation

  • Knowledge of Archdiocesan principles, practices, and organization
  • Interest in and understanding of the Catholic Church’s teachings and role
  • Awareness of current issues and conditions affecting the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the wider Catholic Church

 

Marketing Experience

 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
  • 2+ years  experience on a marketing team at an agency (preferred), brand, or nonprofit 
  •  Fluency in social media platforms for both personal and marketing purposes
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign
  • Basic photography skills and understanding of photography basics
  • Strong copywriting skills, both short- and long-form content 


Communication Skills

 

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof-reading, and speaking
  • Strong interpersonal skills both in-person and by phone with high professionalism
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality

 

Project Management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments with a variety of coworkers, freelancers, clients, and volunteers
