Spanish Teacher – High School (Mid-year Opening)

​Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is a Catholic, Dominican college-preparatory high school whose mission is to educate young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth.  We are currently seeking a high school Spanish teacher who can teach all levels of Spanish (and particularly Spanish III and Honors III).  The teacher will use frequent and varied assessment methods to gauge student progress and provide feedback.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Spanish language teaching and culture.  The start date for this position is approximately mid-March.

FSHA educators are members of a dynamic learning environment. They are engaged in a 1:1 MacBook program, curriculum/ programming redesign and mapping, and teacher-driven professional learning communities. In addition to developing and delivering an intentionally designed curriculum dedicated to teaching and learning in a supportive and collegial atmosphere, our faculty shares out on best practices and instructional technology strategies via blogs, small group learning sessions, and visits to each other’s classrooms.

We seek educators who are able and eager to collaborate with colleagues and students on interdisciplinary research projects and have experience with instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies.  All faculty are involved in co-curricular programs and should share in a commitment to a holistic approach to educating our young women.


​This position requires

  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience teaching high school Spanish 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Masters a plus
  • Experience teaching multiple levels of Spanish in a secondary school
  • Fluency in conversational Spanish
  • Knowledge of current trends in foreign language education; (experience with ACTFL guidelines, CI, or TPRS a plus)
  • Ability to collaborate with department colleagues
  • Experience with and openness to using instructional technology 
  • Excellent classroom management, communication and organization skills
  • An ability to convey a love of Spanish language and Hispanic cultures to the students
