The following tasks are considered essential functions of the position. To perform the job successfully an employee must possess the abilities and aptitude to perform each duty proficiently.

Maintains parish records (e.g., members, Baptisms, First Communions, Marriages, etc.) using a computer; maintains routine accounting records such as accounts payable items; and generates reports, lists, and labels.  May maintain such records manually. Performs various routine bookkeeping and payroll duties including:

Checking invoices for accuracy, preparing and mailing checks.

Calculating and recording payroll deductions such as taxes, social security, and insurance premiums and preparing and distributing checks. Calculating and maintaining accurate balance in checkbook. Preparing and making bank deposits; counting and depositing cash.


Acts as receptionist, answering telephones and greeting visitors; uses tact and discretion when listening to parishioners in need of assistance, referring them to priests and others as appropriate.

Actively supports philosophy, goals and mission of the Church; participates in Church activities including attending services; assists with ministries and other activities.


Must have basic computer skills including knowledge of current word processing, spreadsheet and database software and QuickBooks, etc. Office procedures and business etiquette.

Typing at a minimum of 60 wpm. Operating a computer. Written and oral communication.  For positions requiring bi-lingual skills, the incumbent must also be reasonably fluent in Spanish or other required language.​
