POSITION SUMMARY: To accurately and efficiently perform general accounting procedures.


Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

  • Inputs all cash receipts and applies to general ledger according to department identification number and account number.
  • Inputs all investment checks and credited investment clearing account and investment exchange accounts.
  • Opens the daily mail and separates the check receipts; rental, royalties, donations, collections and investment pool checks.
  • Copies checks with no attached document for cash application.
  • Prepares bank deposit slips for all checks received and reviews deposit slips from various departments.
  • Segregates checks and cash deposits as required by the bank.
  • Prepares bank deposits.
  • Maintains House of Prayer deposits
  • Handles petty cash for the department.
  • Assist Parishes and Schools with updating bank signature account cards
  • Assist Parishes and Schools with bank to bank changes
  • Provides secretarial support staff for the Financial Services Department 
  • Performs related duties as required.



Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
  • High School Diploma
  • Two years’ experience in bookkeeping or related field


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Modem office methods and procedures.
  • PC and programs including Microsoft programs.


Skill in:

  • Analyzing accounts.
  • Bookkeeping procedures.
  • Financial report preparation.


Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form. 
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
