Communications Coordinator

​POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Development Manager, this position promotes awareness of the organization and communicates with constituents through media relations, marketing, public relations and online and print communications.  This position also supports the development director in creating communications for fund development and in coordinating special events (i.e., fundraising donor and donor cultivation) and special events/projects.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

 

On-Line

·         Together with the Director of Development and Development Manager, design, execution and oversight of a long-term and innovative online fundraising strategy, ensuring it is aligned with CEF’s overall Development plan.

·         Define and execute marketing strategies to increase traffic to the website and CEF’s social networks.

·         Collaborate with the ACC Digital Team regarding management of CEF Social Media Accounts.

·         Collaboratively manage and coordinate creation and update of web content; responsible for content-related protocols to keep site up to date.

·         Design and manage regular performance metrics of our online strategies, including website traffic.

·         Actively monitor CEF’s online reputation.


Print

 

·         Work with and manage outside vendors to create, produce and disseminate printed publications (such as newsletters, annual report, brochures, invitations, stationery, etc.)

·         Act as the editor and writer of all marketing materials (including appeal letters).

·         Manage creation and selection of photography for print and electronic communications.

·         Support the development and execution of identity and collateral materials for major organizational initiatives.

·         Plan, develop, implement and maintain quality control of mass communications.




 

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and ability, typically:

 

·         Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.

·         Bachelor’s degree; preferably in marketing, English/journalism, or a related field.

·         2-4 years of marketing, communications, media or public relations experience.

·         Excellent written and verbal skills.

·         Creative thinking and problem solving skills.

·         Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with peers in a high pressure environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

·         Passion for the mission of the Foundation.

·         Team Player:  Ability to maintain effective working relationships, show compassion and dedication; collaborate with peers for productivity and personal growth, sense of humor.

·         Creative, marketing-oriented strategic and tactical thinking skills.

·         Strong communication skills, both oral and written, grant writing experience.

·         Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, navigating the Internet, and experience with relational databases.

·         Understanding of the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools and the needs of the students served by the Foundation preferred.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and make appropriate judgments about sharing information with those who have a need to know.

·         Ability to work independently with initiative and accuracy.

·         Must have ability to:


- Drive throughout the 3-county areas of the Archdiocese of LA

- Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

- Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.

- Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.

- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
