C3-OLALA Online Learning Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Online Learning Assistant for the Catholic Communication Collaboration (C3) / Online Learning @ the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (OLALA) initiative will be responsible for assisting in the planning, researching, monitoring, organizing and development of online learning projects being undertaken by the Archdiocese as part of its C3 initiative.


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.  

  • Social Network Management
  • Support and monitor social network groups hosted on Yammer and similar platforms. 
  • Provide content, technical support and promote shared resources to various social networks.
  • Online Course Data Collection
  • Track and document active courses. 
  • Prepare weekly reports on student activity in each active course. 
  • Document and assist in the resolution of technical issues. 
  • Document completion rates. 
  • Compile and share course participation and confirm certifications. 
  • Assist and coordinate in arranging permissions for use of various online resources for courses in development. 
  • Online Course Development and Revision
  • Monitor content for missing/outdated links. 
  • Find alternative resources for content if needed.
  • Create and update course content as directed. 
  • Survey course users and monitor course requests. 
  • Assist in monitoring and addressing help requests related to online learning platforms. 
  • Clerical and Administrative Projects
  • Perform various clerical tasks such as mailings, copying and other tasks. 
  • Assist in other C3 projects as needed. 
  • Build and manage OLALA e-commerce product entries for course items. 
  • Assist in presentations and workshops in the Archdiocese on OLALA and other C3 projects, as appropriate. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education:

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. 

Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community. 

Experience with online learning and online collaboration tools, especially Moodle, Trello and Yammer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Archdiocese principles, practices, and organization. 
  • Church teaching and philosophies.  
  • Office methods and procedures. 
  • Simple data processes using Microsoft Office products. 
  • Computer coding using HTML, CSS and similar languages.
  • Coordinate various activities with efficiency.  
  • Analyze situations and use judgment and resourcefulness.  
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form.  
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff.  
  • Work independently with initiative and little supervision.  
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.  
  • Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis. 
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking. 
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
