Middle School Math (6 grade) and Science Teacher (7 and 8 grades)

St. Monica Catholic Elementary School, part of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, is seeking a Middle School Math/Science teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. 


The successful applicant will: 

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the unique social-emotional development of middle school students.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of middle school Math and Science curriculum; instructional strategies, and classroom management necessary for student success in middle school.

3. Promote effective collaboration between staff and students; families and staff; and among the SMCES staff.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of learning and teaching in a PLC; the ability to make thoughtful, informed decisions; and the ability to teach in an environment that demands the integration of theory and practice in a Catholic environment.


The minimum requirements are: 

1. An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university of college.

2. A California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, or equivalent from another state.

3. Full-time teaching experience.       

4. Ability to join a professional community of educators committed to providing a challenging standards-based curriculum in a Catholic environment of service.3. 

5. Ability to use technology effectively in LMS and adaptive/assignable programs.


In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are: 

1. An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Education. 

2. Middle school teaching experience.
