St. John of God Retirement and Care Center

Description:

Position Summary: Transport residents of RCFE to destinations scheduled by the Director of Activities. Assist the Activities Department with daily activities when not performing driving duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Transport residents.
  • Maintain and keep the vehicle in good working condition/clean interiors/complete all required daily reports.
  • Understand and work toward making the Mission and Values of St. john of God Retirement and Care Center a lived day-to-day reality in the service offered to the patients and residents of the facility.
  • Care Center and RCFE recreational outings.
  • Assist residents with packages or belongings that are taken aboard the bus or minivan.
  • Know and use accurately information concerning the policies and procedures regarding divulging information, location and function of various department, and names of appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Be present and responsible in referring inquiry or problem regarding family, resident or visitor to the appropriate staff person.
  • Interact with all staff and residents in the spirit of St. John of God.
  • Participate in all required orientations and staff training.
  • Recognize and respect the individual physical, emotional, social, religious and cultural needs of the resident.

 

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

 

1.     Performs other duties as assigned.

2.     Follows organizational and departmental procedures.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:  

Communicate and collaborate with facility personnel.

 

Information Management:   

Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

 

Risk Management: 

Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.

Requirements:

Position Qualifications:

 

  1. Individual must successfully complete a background check,  health screening/ T.B. clearance,  and have a current First Aid card and Hospital Fire and Life Safety card.
  2. High School Diploma.
  3. Possess excellent communication and comprehension skills both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal.
  5. Ability to record messages and keep simple records.
  6. Adherence to uniform requirements.
  7. Thoughtful and caring interaction with the elderly.
  8. Current driver’s license to drive bus.  DMV – Class B with P endorsement.
  9. Good driving record with no citations within the last two years.
  10. Knowledge of the city and familiar with major streets in the county.
  11. Good rapport with people.
  12. Bondable/insurable.

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  1. Required to carry up to 40 lbs, supplies, records or residents personal items.
  2. Job duties require physical movement such as twisting, bending, squatting, sitting or kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, prolonged walking and sitting.  .

 

 

Work Environment:

 

  1. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions to include but not limited to: extreme cold and heat or humidity.
  2. Exposure to heights which might pose a risk of being in high precarious places.
  3. Exposure to risk of electrical shock, flammable and explosive gases, cleaning agents/chemicals, toxic or caustic chemicals, dust and other irritants, grease or oils.
  4. Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious or contagious disease.
