To accurately and efficiently perform general accounting procedures.


Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

·      Codes payables and receivables.

·      Receives collections, donations, assessments, royalties, rentals, and premiums from parishes, schools, and other organizations and posts to individual accounts, cash receipt ledger, and subsidiary ledgers.

·      Provides accountants with daily clerical support.

·      Prepares daily balance and adjusting entries.

·      Prepares bank deposits.

·      Reconciles bank statements.

·      Corresponds with bank regarding questions or problems with accounts and checks.

·      Compiles payable/receivable reports.

·      Updates records.

·      Processes and mails checks.

·      Verifies accuracy of checks and invoices.

·      Analyzes accounts.

·      May prepare tax forms and reports.

·      May send collection letters for unpaid accounts.

·      Performs related duties as required.


Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

·      Active Member of a Catholic faith community.

·      2 years of college in accounting or a related field.

·      3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

·      Principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting.

·      Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

·      Modern office methods and procedures.

·      Tax form preparation.

Skill in:

·      Analyzing accounts.

·      Accounting methods, forms, and techniques.

·      Bookkeeping procedures.

·      Financial report preparation.

Ability to:

·      Communicate effectively in written and oral form.

·      Develop and maintain effective working relationships.

·      Operate adding machine/calculator, check preparation equipment, and typewriter; may include computer terminal.

·      Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

·      Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.

·      Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.

·      Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
