The Director of Music position is a part time position twelve months of the year.
The Director reports directly to the Pastor and collaborates closely with the Business Manager and Parish Pastoral Staff.
The Goals for the Director of Music will be:
 • To develop a prayerful, singing assembly through celebration, preparation, and evaluation and through education and personal ministry;
• With the cooperation and assistance of all the parish ministers, the Director of Music will support the gospel message through song and challenge the assembly to live it more fully.
Duties and Responsibilities
   The Director of Music will be responsible for all music associated with worship regarding the parish.
• To ensure that music is provided at all the masses.
• To help to increase regular attendance and participation at these liturgies through the quality of music.
• To develop a plan to expand participation in all Music Ministries including Liturgical Choir, Cantors, Teen Choir/Ensemble, and instrumentalists.
• To foster active participation at the liturgy through congregational singing, reflective and prayerful execution of instrumental and choral/solo musical selections.
   To evaluate current English-Spanish musical resources and traditions, and potentially adjust them according to the ministerial vision of the parish, Liturgy Committee, and pastor.
   Attend Liturgy Committee meetings.
• Ordinarily, the Director of Music will be responsible for four liturgies as accompanist  (piano and/or organ) and choir director per weekend and for major feasts.
• In addition, the Director of Music will be responsible for coordinating, staffing and time keeping all other liturgies with competent musicians, utilizing other musicians as necessary, including but not inclusive to funerals, weddings, quinceñeras.
   Coordinate all musicians (guitar, bass, wind instruments, etc.) and ensure quality of musical performance during masses at which these people minister.
   Perform Clerical Duties as required.
   Perform other duties as required to assist in the enhancement of Music and Liturgy


Qualifications for Director of Music
      Proficient in English and Spanish, recommended but not required.
      Is knowledgeable of and comfortable with Church music literature, (both in English and in Spanish) in all forms and styles for the congregation, choirs (adult, teen, and children, Spanish), vocalists, and instrumentalists.  
      Is knowledgeable on Liturgical documents of the Catholic Church
      Has a thorough understanding of the musical, liturgical and pastoral principals which must be made in selecting music for liturgy.   
      Is proficient in at least one performance area (e.g., keyboard, choral, voice), Formation Training, and Criteria for Readiness.
