Immaculate Heart High School, an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls, located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, California, seeks an experienced English Teacher for long term substitution. Applicants should be familiar with and supportive of the educational and spiritual philosophy and mission of a Catholic high school. 

Applicants must be experienced in teaching American Literature, Honors English 1, and Monsters in Literature. All courses have a strong emphasis on writing and the Shaffer paragraph.  Students will be expected to read novels, short stories, and plays in the courses.  A curriculum map and content will be provided to assist the substitute teacher, but the substitute will be responsible for assigning, collecting, and grading student work. They should also have experience with instructional technology, innovative teaching strategies and differentiating instruction.


  • BA in English or English Education (Master’s preferred)
  • California single-subject credential
  • ​Previous English teaching experience
