Mount St. Mary’s College and Loyola Marymount University are sponsoring a “Vatican II at 50” Symposium to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. The next installment will be on Saturday, February 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (with registration commencing at 8:45 a.m.).
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Gaillardetz, Ph.D., of Boston College. The respondents will be Sr. Darlene Kawulok, C.S.J., Ph.D., of Mount St. Mary’s College; and Dr. Charlotte Radler, Ph.D., of Loyola Marymount University. Breakout sessions are “Lay Ministry Since the Council: Unanticipated and Unfinished” with Dr. Michael Horan, Ph.D., of Loyola Marymount University; “Vatican II: Problem or Grace?” with Fr. Guillermo Garcia, Ph.D., of Mount St. Mary’s College; “Women as Pillars and Prophets in the Church” with Ms. Cambria Smith of Holy Family Parish in South Pasadena; and “Leadership in the U.S. Roman Catholic Church: Bishops and Parish Life Coordinators 1987-2010” with Sr. Katie Hoegeman, C.S.J., Ph.D., of Mount St. Mary’s College.
This event is free and open to the public; however, pre-registration is required, since lunch will also be provided at no charge.
