Archbishop José H. Gomez ordained seven new priests on Saturday June 3rd for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

“Today we ordain seven fine men to serve God’s family here in Los Angeles. This is a day of joy for me. Being a priest means ‘being for Jesus’ and ‘being for others,’” said Archbishop Gomez. “It is a beautiful way to spend your life — loving God and helping people to grow in holiness and love. I hope everyone will join me in giving thanks to God and praying for our new spiritual fathers.”

The men who entered the priesthood today are Fr. Juan Barajas, Fr. Jose G. Castañeda, Fr. Joseph Choi, Fr. Ron Clark, Fr. Martin Gonzalez, Fr. Timothy Grumbach and Fr. Robert McGowan. All have completed theological formation at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, including recently completing service as transitional deacons and year-long internships at Archdiocesan parishes. They will begin their first parish assignments on July 1.  Read more about our new Priests on Angelus News.   Those interested in more information regarding the Priesthood or the Permanent Diaconate, please visit  our Office for Vocations for more information.
