"We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true:  good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern."

- Pope Francis, 9/16/13

    • St. Maximilian Kolbe was a 20th century Polish Franciscan priest with a great devotion to Our Lady. He published a Catholic magazine condemning the Nazis, leading to his arrest and placement in the Auschwitz concentration camp. When one man, Franciszek Gajowniczek, was chosen to die, Kolbe offered his own life in place since Franciszek had a wife and children who needed him. Kolbe was later executed by lethal injection. St. Maximilian Kolbe was canonized as a martyr. Now, we ask for his intercession for those on death row.
