Resources for Catechist Certification
There are three phases in the catechist certification process. In order to be certified, a candidate must complete the Theology phase, the Specialization phase and the Practicum phase. The resources below are for those candidates who are engaged in the practicum phase.
General information on becoming a certified catechist may be found on our Basic Formation page.
The practicum phase of the catechist certification process involves the candidate observing an already certified catechist as well as undergoing an evaluation by an already certified catechist. The forms below will assist in these processes.
Observation Forms
These forms are for use by the candidate as they observe a certified catechist engaged in catechetical miinstry. They are to be completed by the candidate who is seeking certification.
Evaluation Forms
These forms are to be given to an already certified catechist whose responsibility is will be to evaluate the candidate seeking certification. Ideally, this evaluation is conducted by the parish Director/Coordinator of Religious Education, or someone trusted and delegated by them to conduct the evaluation.
