Archdiocese of Los Angeles Commission on Catholic Schools

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Commission on Catholic Schools is composed of delegates from the following groups: the Catholic School Board, the Education Foundation Trustees, the Pastors' Advisory Committee on Education, and Archdiocesan Administrators. Each of these four groups is represented on the Commission by three delegates.

The Archbishop of Los Angeles is the Chairman of the Commission, and the Superintendent of Schools of the Archdiocese is the President. The purpose of the Commission on Catholic Schools is to formulate decisions in the area of its responsibility for ratification by the Archbishop. The Commission is responsible for strategic decisions and for decisions relating to the generation and allocation of resources.

Archdiocese of Los Angeles Catholic School Board

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Catholic School Board is composed of seventeen (17) members appointed by the Archbishop. It has the responsibility to provide leadership in formulating and recommending to the Archbishop policies pertaining to elementary and secondary schools. These recommendations become official policy of the Archdiocese only when approved by the Archbishop. Respecting the independent nature of certain major aspects in the governance and management of private Catholic schools, the Board nevertheless represents the Archbishop to all Catholic schools in preserving and promoting the teaching of Catholic doctrine in regard to faith, morals, and liturgical policies.
