Department of Catholic Schools
Religious Instruction and Formation
To assist pastors and/or principals in evaluating and strengthening the Catholic identity of their schools, and to support them as the spiritual leaders of their schools, the staff provides the following services:
- guidelines and assistance for the religious formation of students, staff, and parents;
- the evaluation of resources used in the religion/human sexuality programs;
- workshops to enhance the religious professional development of administrators, religion department chairpersons, religion coordinators, teachers, campus ministers and Christian service coordinators;
- development of resources and guidelines for the religion curriculum;
- participation on Archdiocesan committees directly related to the Religion program as well as liaison with other Archdiocesan offices.
For Elementary Schools
- implementation of resources for the Catechetical Ministry Ongoing Formation of Teachers’ Program;
- development and maintenance of a Religion Program Standards Handbook;
- direction of the Archdiocesan Religion Coordinator Committee.
For Secondary Schools
- regularly scheduled visits to observe mission effectiveness
- regularly scheduled visits to review the religion program;
- implementation of the Certification Process for Catholic High School Religion Teachers;
- implementation of the Christian Service programs;
- direction of the Religion Advisory Committee.
