Volunteer Opportunities
Are you interested in participating in any of the following programs of the Office? Give us one hour each month and we'll help you make a difference on behalf of the poor.
Annual Dinner
The following list includes the most important of the tasks associated with the success of the annual Office of Justice and Peace Recognition Dinner. We need people who like to have fun throwing a party. For those who may not know, the Campaign for Human Development is the anti-poverty program of the United States Catholic Conference. For nearly thirty years, CHD has built relationships between the poor and the non-poor, while providing resources to help low-income groups improve the quality of life in their communities. In November of each year, we gather approximately 200-250 people to share in the celebration of helping people move themselves and their communities out of poverty.
There are several ways that you can get involved. The following list gives a basic outline of opportunities. If you, or other members of your parish Justice and Peace group are interested in participating at any level, please give us a call, and together we'll figure out what would be the most fun way for you to be part of this celebration. Give us a call at 213-637-7550. We hope to hear from you soon!

Voter Registration
"....It is the Church's role as a community of faith to call attention to the moral and religious dimension of secular issues, to keep alive the values of the Gospel as a norm for social and political life, and to point out the demands of the Christian faith for a just transformation of society. Such a ministry on the part of every individual as well as the organizational Church inevitably involves political consequences and touches upon public affairs."

Because Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the official emergency relief and development project of the United States Catholic Conference, much of its work is done overseas. Domestically, the emphasis is world anti-poverty education and encouraging people to support CRS.
