 Year of Faith Resources

On October 11, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI released Porta Fidei, an apostolic letter proclaiming the Year of Faith, which will begin on October 11, 2012, and continue through November 24, 2013.  The starting date of October 11 also marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, as well as the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

This Year of Faith is intended to contribute to an authentic renewal and conversion to the Lord.  It is a summons to lead people toward the one who gives life in abundance.   Each of us is called to live and profess our faith with renewed  confidence and hope.  The yearlong focus will provide ample opportunity to help strengthen our catechetical efforts and provide quality initial and ongoing faith formation for all involved in evangelizing catechesis.

We have a particular responsibility in our world today to proclaim Good News as we are so often bombarded with many voices competing for our attention.  Our grand task is to discern the voice that affirms our Catholic Christian vision and values and enables us to live our faith with courage and conviction.

The Office of Religious Education is pleased to support parishes and communities in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as they celebrate this sacred time.  The links on the right list resources and other information of interest to those involved in faith formation, catechesis, and evangelization this year.  Be sure to check back often as these pages will be updated as new information is available.  And please contact us if we can be of any help to you or your community in your ministry.
