The Santa Barbara Pastoral Region encompasses Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Our beautiful region is divided into four deaneries. Deanery 1 consists of the Santa Maria, Lompoc and Solvang areas. Deanery 2 is Goleta, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. Deanery 3 is Ojai, Ventura, Port Hueneme and Oxnard. Deanery 4 is Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Moorpark and Simi Valley.
In this picturesque region there are a total of 37 parishes. The most remote inland parish is in New Cuyama, Immaculate Conception, and the most remote from Los Angeles is in Guadalupe on the Central Coast, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Three chapels are on military bases- Port Hueneme, Point Mugu, and Vandenberg. St. John's Seminary
for the archdiocese is in the region, opened in 1939 and located in Camarillo.
Four of the parishes in our region are named for Our Lady of Guadalupe, there are five parochial missions, three Catholic Cemeteries
and six Catholic High Schools.
Our region is home to four California Missions, San Buenaventura (1782), Santa Barbara (1786), La Purisima Concepcion (1787), Santa Ines (1804).
