 Service Opportunities

Below are service opportunities that may be of interest to young adults:

Mercy Volunteer Corps

Mercy Volunteer Corps (MVC), a program sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, invites lay women and men to compassionate service with people who are economically poor or marginalized. MVC places volunteers at sites in the U.S. for a one year commitment, and in Guyana, South America, for a two year commitment. Volunteers embrace compassionate service, social justice, spirituality, and a simple lifestyle in community. All living expenses are provided including housing, stipends, medical insurance, and transportation.

LeaderWorkX

LeaderworX is a unique opportunity for young adults to serve those in need, talk about social justice issues, be formed in faith, and live in Christian community. The program provides spiritual formation, leadership training, and discernment opportunities, as well as ongoing support and tools for one to grow throughout the summer and beyond. In addition to formation weeks, community members spend the bulk of their summer helping to facilitate our ServiceworX and JusticeworX youth ministry programs. ServiceworX is our week-long day program for junior high students, and JusticeworX is our week-long sleep-away program (in Trenton, Philadelphia, and/or Appalachia) for high school students.
